August 23, 2011 2:15pm:
The storm path is moving more to the north east. Current forecast calls for a North Carolina hit. This is great news for us at Seabrook Island. We will delay any decision to prep properties until at least Thursday.
August 23, 2011:
Hurricane Irene continues to show signs of potentially affecting our area beginning this weekend. We are implementing our hurricane preparedness plan beginning Wednesday morning. We do not know if the storm will hit our coastline but take preliminary steps to secure property. We will:
Pull in outdoor furniture.
Secure outdoor items or bring inside
Close all interior window treatments
Turn off H20 breakers
Turn off icemakers
You may have a contract/plan with a vendor to put up hurricane shutters or board up. We do not have a referral source for this action. Please contact your vendor directly if you want this action. Check with Seabrook Island Property Owners web resources for possible vendors. If you use Dewey Postell his number is 843-729-9077.
Please check back here for daily updates. If the storm causes damage, this is where you should check for updates and information. We will return to the when it is safe. We will assess property and provide you with an update. We will use email correspondence for most communication.
Thanks very much for your consideration
Kat
